AI agent development, with the checkpoints built in

An AI agent development company has to answer one question before any other: what happens when the agent is wrong? We build agents that call your tools and write to your systems, with the evaluation set, the confidence thresholds and the human review step designed in rather than discovered in production.

One agent workflow in a product you run: quoted against the $15,000–$30,000 band · a multi-agent system with evaluation tooling: up to $120,000 · or hire AI engineers from $4,000 a month

Scope an agent

What does an AI agent need that a demo does not?

A demo agent is a model with tools. A production agent is the same thing plus the six parts below, and the six parts are most of the work.

Tools with narrow permissions

Each tool does one thing, with the least access that thing needs. An agent that can only read and propose is a different risk from one that can write, and the difference belongs in the design.

An evaluation set

Real cases with known correct actions, scored on every change. Without it nobody can say whether last week’s prompt edit made the agent better or worse.

Confidence thresholds and human review

Below a threshold the agent proposes and a person approves. Where that line sits is a business decision, and it can move as the evaluation numbers earn it.

An audit trail

Every action traceable to the input, the retrieved source and the step that produced it, so a wrong action can be explained rather than only reverted.

Writes that are safe to retry

Agents retry, and a retried write must not act twice. That is a database problem before it is a model problem — the constraint we use for it.

A cost and latency budget

Every step is a model call. One retrieval-backed answer on our platform takes 1.9 s on average to the last token, so five chained steps built the same way are a ten-second wait before anything is optimised.

What we have shipped — and what we have not

The closest thing to an agent on this site, described as exactly what it is.

On the logistics platform behind our AI figures, the model reads documents from 14 sources in 5 languages, extracts and validates values against approved reference material and routing rules, and writes them into the client’s ERP. Anything below a confidence threshold goes to an analyst first, and every value carries a source highlight and an audit trail. It runs at 99.2% extraction accuracy and took 87% of the manual processing out of the operation.

That is an agent with a narrow tool set and a human checkpoint, and it is the shape most production agents should start as. We have not published a case study of an open-ended autonomous agent, and nothing on this page implies one. When we build one for you, the evaluation set is what decides how much autonomy it earns.

AI agent development pricing

Two published bands, and what moves an agent between them.

One agent workflow added to a product that already exists is quoted against our LLM integration band, $15,000–$30,000 over 2–4 weeks. A multi-agent system with evaluation tooling sits at the top of the AI product band, $40,000–$120,000 over 8–12 weeks — the pricing page names it as the reason that band is wide.

Three things move the number: how many systems the agent acts on, since each brings its own authentication and failure modes; how much it may do without a person, since every unsupervised action needs evaluation behind it; and how ready the data is. The model is rarely one of them. Managed delivery is quoted fixed-price after a discovery call, with a written scope inside 48 hours.

When should an agent not be an agent?

More often than the current market suggests.

When the steps are always the same

A fixed sequence is a pipeline with one model call in it. That is cheaper, faster and testable line by line, and it is usually what an “agent” request turns out to need.

When nobody can say what a correct action is

An agent cannot be evaluated against an opinion. Settling the definition is a week of work, and it comes before any code.

When the action cannot be undone

Payments, deletions and messages to customers need a person in the loop until the evaluation numbers say otherwise — not until the demo looks convincing.

Common questions

What comes up on nearly every first call about an agent.

One agent workflow added to a product that already exists is quoted against our LLM integration band, $15,000–$30,000 over 2–4 weeks. A multi-agent system with evaluation tooling sits at the top of the AI product band, $40,000–$120,000 over 8–12 weeks. What moves it is how many systems the agent acts on and how much it may do without a person. Every band we publish.
LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI or plain code, chosen per project. The framework is the smallest decision on an agent build: most of the work is in the tools, the permissions, the evaluation set and the review step, and those carry over whichever framework sits in the middle.
Three layers. Tools with the least access they need, so a wrong decision has a small blast radius. A confidence threshold below which the agent proposes and a person approves. And an evaluation set scored on every change, so the threshold moves on evidence. Writes are made safe to retry, so a retried step cannot act twice.
Yes, and that is where most of the work is. On our logistics platform validated values are written into the client’s ERP behind an analyst review step. Each system the agent touches adds its own authentication and failure modes, which is why the number of systems moves a quote more than anything else.
Outsource it when the workflow is defined and you would rather buy the result: it is quoted fixed-price after a discovery call. Hire AI engineers when you have a product owner and the agent will keep changing with your product: they join your board at $4,000–$7,000 per engineer per month.

Have a workflow you want an agent to run?

Tell us what it should do and which systems it touches. We come back with what it needs, where a person stays in the loop, and what it costs, in writing.
